Entirely embraced in Roman Travertine, the lobby of 520 Madison Avenue contains a single, warm material to create an intimate feel. Designed as a viewing platform for the owner’s extensive art collection, vibrant works accent the main body and corridors of the lobby.  A striking security desk composed of a rich Sarancolin Marble punctuates the space.

First impressions are crucial and fleeting. Home to the headquarters of several major corporations, this lobby needed to foster a refined and graceful first impression. By expanding the lobby and refocusing the existing space, MdeAS crafted a room with a strong impression. Drawing from an elegant material palette of white marble with gray veining and backlit glass accents, the lobby proudly exhibits a unique and dignified sense of space.

Breathing new life into this 1960’s office building, while keeping cost, construction time, and tenant disruption to an absolute minimum, MdeAS designed a glass curtain wall to partially replace the existing pre-cast concrete facade, filled out the dark and underused recessed entry, and renovated the lobby. At the street level, an ultra-clear entry storefront brings the exterior to the interior, an effect punctuated by the similarly proportioned glass cladding lobby walls.

Set against a sleek and reflective white backdrop, a high-tech video display—illustrating the technological focus many of the building tenants share—leads to the main lobby, where the white motif continues with vein-free white marble walls and flooring. The serenity fostered by the simple material palette offers a reprieve from the chaos of nearby Times Square.
