888 Seventh Avenue
This raised plaza is characterized by its simple geometry and refined materials. MdeAS selected the materials to serve as a visual connection to the building's lobby, melding the interior and exterior spaces. Separating the seating area from the circulation corridor to the building are dark granite planters, which add a point of contrast to the light marble paving. Perimeter planters with tall birch trees provide shading and define the plaza's boundaries.

777 Sixth Avenue
Designed as an entry courtyard, this minimalist garden composition includes a granite-paved walkway flanked by a glass block wall and a spectacular water feature on either side. As the sole dynamic element of the elegantly understated plaza, the water fountain guides residents and visitors to the building's glass pavilion entry. The garden provides a slice of serenity amidst the urban chaos just beyond its walls. |
160 Fifth Avenue
Taking advantage of the existing historical elements of this 1890's neo-classical building, MdeAS created a space with a distinct, seasoned personality. Emphasizing the building's historic background, while redesigning the space for modern use, MdeAS turned the water tower and parapet bracings into unique design elements for a timeless public space. |
575 Fifth Avenue
Employing simple, elegant finishes working in concert to create a bright, inviting space, MdeAS transformed this four-story atrium into a bustling public gathering spot. The meticulously-detailed feature wall of fritted glass masks the criss-cross of escalators leading to the retail stores above, while massive columns in the center of the space are softened by white metal cladding. Delineating the seating area is white marble flooring, in contrast to the grey marble throughout the rest of the atrium.
