Verde SW1
Verde SW1 is a state-of-the-art, office-led redevelopment in the heart of the Victoria submarket in London’s West End. Completed in 2016, the building provides a total of 317,083 SF of net internal area, along with six expansive roof gardens totaling over 20,000 SF to offer stunning views across the London skyline.
In a design collaboration with Aukett Swanke, MdeAS reenvisioned Verde SW1 to become a next-generation building. From basement to rooftop, every detail was considered to create an efficient and harmonious space for businesses to thrive and employees to enjoy amenities developed to the highest environmental and sustainable standards.

Exterior Curtainwall Informing Interior Experience
Verde SW1 was reimagined with innovative approaches to sustainability forefront throughout the design process. The exterior informs the interior experience to provide tenants with the ability to track their own energy consumption using on-site energy and carbon footprint monitoring and reporting.
The exterior wall design incorporated floor-to-ceiling high-performance glazing to maximize daylighting on the interior with a custom ceramic frit pattern integrated into the glass assembly for visual privacy and added solar shading. Access to the exterior terraces directly from the office is an essential feature of the modern collaborative workspace.
Deep horizontal and vertical recesses on the facade form a series of flush glass bay windows that create scale through rhythm and articulation. The ‘anchor’ in the southeast corner contains vertical fins with feature LED lighting to provide a dramatic focal point to the building.
Park In the Sky
The new massing and façade gives Verde SW1 a striking and modern identity while six landscaped roof gardens come together to create a ‘park in the sky’ with views over London.
Each terrace ranges in size from 300sqm to 600sqm and is enclosed by a balustrade set back from the front edge of the terrace to allow for an extensive green roof system with over 40 different plant species. As the fifth elevation of the building, the roof provides green terraces that accentuate the descending steps of the structure, connecting it to the established neighborhood while elegantly softening the building in the designated viewing corridor.
