Mike Zaborski, Principal, was spotlighted in NYREJ’s 2024 Year in Review, discussing the year in commercial real estate, featuring notable achievements, exciting projects, and key insights from industry leaders.
What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2024?
MdeAS is proud to have completed the renovations of PENN 1 & PENN 2 as part of the 4.4 million s/f PENN DISTRICT development in New York City. We also recently completed the new restaurant, Santi, from Michelin-starred chef Michael White at 520 Madison Ave.; a two-building residential master plan called Clinton Park in New Rochelle, NY; and the combination and restoration of 11+15 E 26th St., including a new storefront, lobby, amenity center, and rooftop pavilion. This year, we were also incredibly fortunate to be listed in The Real Deal’s Top 5 NYC Architects for Alteration Projects.
What emerging trends will drive investment and development in 2025?
Buildings designed with resilient and sustainable strategies will be in greater demand to meet the expectations of the modern work force. Adaptive re-use and renovation of existing buildings will continue to be sustainable solutions. Strategic improvements to existing assets such as the introduction of amenities, outdoor spaces, and lobby upgrades will also continue to make a substantial impact on investment. We are excited to be working on a new façade and entry design for 59 Maiden Ln. that is projected to significantly reduce energy consumption. We are also continuing to conduct exciting research in circular design and innovative sustainable materials.
